Default Full body and split workout

For the past while i've been doing a split workout
and recently i wanted to change things up so i started doing a full body workout for the past month which is doing me really good. To me the full body workout gives you a big pump and lets you work out each muscle group 3 times a week but on a split i fill like i'm concentrating on that one muscle group way more than a full body. What do you guys think of doing a full body workout one week and a split the next and just alternating them every week? I figured if you do this it will keep your muscles guessing and perhaps really, work do you guys think?

What type of full body routine are you doing? Im looking into starting the HST. (hypertrophy specific training) Its only a couple sets per muscle group 3 times a week.
http://www.hypertrophy-specific.com/hst_index.html
edit: that link is stupid. click the HST at the top right of the page.....

all the full bodys ive ever done consist of basic compound movements,i know theres lots more but this is what i do and it works, you can put body parts in any order you want
M-W-F
flat BB bench
rows
dead lifts
BB military press
squats
2 or 3 warm up sets for each BP then 2 or 3 heavy sets to failure like this,
set 1 6 reps fail
set 2 4 reps fail
set 3 2 reps fail

you have to know your body and asses your recover ability, and i use this more as a shock than a routine and the longest i ran this was 4wks!!

I think full body workouts ARE good for a pump and are also good for gaining condition.
With a split routine though, you can make gains in size and strength.
Have you ever noticed when you break your bounders in strength, for example complete a heavier weight in Bench Press or Squats or Dead lifts, you are very sore for days after and the recuperation time for recovery is greater. If the body is not given a long enough period to recover form these barrier breaking workouts you simply do not get stronger and bigger.
I think that with your full body workouts you are getting a nice pump and are feeling fuller on a daily basses but this will be at the expense of strength and size increases in the long term.

imho i think you can get stronger and bigger doing full bodies(ive done it)i think it comes down to the age old argument of intensity VS volume!!

With the split system,I spend a but more time on the compound movements, volume, and up the intensity with my other exercises.
My concern with the full body workout is with the possible lack of intensity due to the long routine resulting in fatigue.
I think I can achieve more intensity and volume with the split system.

i hear ya bro.
with a true full body WO its ALL intensity, you pick 1 body part and do a couple warm ups then 2 or 3 sets to failure in the 4 to 6 rep range (depending on your recovery) then to the next body part.
so say we pick chest as our body part, and we want to do inclines our warm up would go,
internal rotations 2 sets 15-20 reps
external rotations 2 sets 15-20 reps
incline bench 1 or 2 sets with 135 10 15 reps
incline bench work sets
1 250lbs 6-8 reps fail
2 275lbs 4-6 reps fail
3 275lbs 4-6 reps fail
done on the shoulder press!!
the whole WO should be over in 45mins to an hr!!

To be perfectly honest,I'm too old for that shit.
It sounds exhausting,I don't think I could handle that anymore.
Of coarse for the first couple of years I worked out, I did a full body system three times a week.
Can't do all that now, to old,lol
Of coarse if I had a couple of amphetamines I could.
Was getting into BZP for a while and training until they banned it in my country last year, could train for 2-3 hours on a gram of BZP.
I know it sounds bad...
