HMMM I still say its a marketing scheme. I've been type 1 diabetic for 20 years and 2 months. I've never once had a problem with expired slin.....I've opened bottles that were expired for a year and had not one problem.
In that article it states that the slin must remain 95% effiecient after the expiration date.....nothing to worry about at all.

I had an experience with a bottle of 'log I presumed had lost potency after 6 months refrigerated.
I ate short on the carbs after taking a 14iu hit and had a case of hypo come on real quick after about 45 min.
Pretty scary.
I have a bottle of Humilin R I have been using lately and it is over a year old and has been open about 8 months, it is working efficiently.I can certainly feel it come on.
So don't buy into this loss of potency after my experience.
